Dear Sir:
On April 17, 2014, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 12-197-3M, HVAC Improvements at the Monitoring and Research Building, Stickney Water Reclamation Plant.
In response to a public advertisement of May 14, 2014, a bid opening was held on July 22, 2014. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
PATH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, INC. $11,436,675.00
IHC CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES, LLC $12,873,000.00
Five hundred ninety-four (594) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and forty-eight (48) companies requested specifications.
The low bid is approximately 76 percent above the estimate and is considered too high for an award. Therefore, all bids are rejected in the public's best interest. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has informed Path Construction Company, Inc., and IHC Construction Companies, LLC of this action.
The contract documents will be reviewed prior to any re-advertisement.
