Title
Authority to enter into an agreement with and make payment to Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) for the relocation of ComEd overhead primary distribution wire and poles for Contract 10-882-BF Streambank Stabilization Projects along Midlothian Creek and Calumet Union Drainage Ditch in the Village of Markham, in an amount of $116,515.69, Account 501-50000-612490
Body

Dear Sir:

Authorization is requested to enter into an agreement with and make payment to ComEd for relocation of ComEd overhead primary distribution wire and poles, in an amount of $116,515.69.

On April 3, 2014, the Board of Commissioners authorized payment to ComEd for utility relocation in an amount of $45,000.00.  A portion of this amount was necessary to pay an advance deposit of $25,000.00 to ComEd in order to finalize engineering design of utility pole relocation within the existing Calumet Union Drainage Ditch outside of ComEd's existing utility easement in the Village of Markham, Illinois.  This utility pole relocation is in connection with Contract 10-882-BF Streambank Stabilization Projects along Midlothian Creek and Calumet Union Drainage Ditch.  ComEd has completed engineering and design plans and has determined the additional fee to relocate ComEd's overhead primary distribution wire and poles is $116,515.69.  Relocation of these utility poles is necessary to allow for proper stabilization of Calumet Union Drainage Ditch in Markham, Illinois.

It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize payment to ComEd in an amount of $116,515.69.

Funds are available in Account 501-50000-612490.

It is further requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents in connection with this request on behalf of the District after it is approved by the Director of Engineering as to technical matters and by the General Counsel as to form and legality.

Requested, Catherine A. O'Connor, Director of Engineering, WSS:JPM
Recommended, David St. Pierre, Executive Director
Respectfully Submitted, Michael A. Alvarez, Chairman Committee on Stormwater Management
