Title
Report on rejection of bids for Contract 14-867-11, Repaving at the Prairie Plan Site in Fulton County, Illinois, estimated cost $44,000.00
Body

Dear Sir:

On June 5, 2014, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 14-867-11, Repaving at the Prairie Plan Site in Fulton County, Illinois.

In response to a public advertisement of July 2, 2014, a bid opening was held on July 15, 2014.  The bid tabulation for this contract is:

      ILLINOIS VALLEY PAVING, CO.
DIV. OF UNITED CONTRACTORS MIDWEST, CO.            $74,842.00

Five hundred seven (507) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and twelve (12) companies requested specifications.

The bid amount of $74,842.00, submitted by Illinois Valley Paving, Co., is approximately 70.1 percent above the estimate of $44,000.00, and is considered too high for award.  Therefore, the bid was considered non-responsive and was rejected in the public's best interest.  The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has informed Illinois Valley Paving, Co. of this action.

The contract will be re-advertised as soon as possible.

Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management, DAL:SEB:cm
Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman, Committee on Procurement
