Title
Report on advertisement of Request for Proposal 15-RFP-11 Legal Services for Workers' Compensation Defense for a two-year period, with an option to extend for an additional year, in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00, Account 101-25000-601170, Requisition 1394108
Body

Dear Sir:

Request for Proposal (RFP) documents have been prepared for Professional Services for Workers' Compensation Defense at the request of the Human Resources Department. The anticipated start date for this contract is May 21, 2015 and expiring on April 15, 2017, with the option for a one-year extension to expire on April 15, 2018.

The purpose of this contract is to obtain legal defense services for designated Workers' Compensation claims. The Human Resources Department presently engages the services of three firms to assist in the handling of complicated Workers' Compensation claims. Our relationship with these firms has allowed the District to realize cost savings in the settlement and conclusion of difficult cases.

The estimated cost for this RFP is $112,500.00 for 2015, $150,000.00 for 2016 and $37,500.00 for 2017.

A bid deposit for this contract is not required.

The required services do not provide practical opportunities for direct or indirect subcontracting. Therefore, the Affirmative Action Interim Ordinance Appendix A should not be included.

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:
Advertise            March 11, 2015
Bid Opening      March 27, 2015
Award            May 21, 2015
Completion      April 15, 2017

Funds for 2015 are available in Account 101-25000-601170. Funds for years 2016 and 2017 are contingent on the Board of Commissioners' approval of the District's budgets for those years.

Requested, Denice E. Korcal, Director of Human Resources
