Dear Sir:
Authorization is requested to make payment, by direct voucher, to the Palatine Park District for easements, loss of mature trees, and business disruptions, in an amount not to exceed $190,000.00.
On November 1, 2012, the Board of Commissioners authorized the District to negotiate and enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Palatine and the Palatine Park District for Contract 10-884-AF, Flood Control Project for Upper Salt Creek.
The Palatine Park District and the Village of Palatine will maintain all of the improvements associated with this project. As part of the intergovernmental agreement, the District agreed to compensate the Palatine Park District for easements, loss of mature trees, and business disruptions.
Contract 10-884-AF consists of installing a bypass storm sewer, small berm, and flap gates in order to improve stormwater flow and reduce flooding damages to 18 structures south of Dundee Road in the Village of Palatine. The project has been advertised, and we expect to award the contract later this year with construction completion in 2016.
It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize payment, by direct voucher, to the Palatine Park District, in an amount not to exceed $190,000.00. Funds are available in Account 501-50000-667340, Stormwater Management Fund.
