Authority to settle the Workers’ Compensation Claim of Thomas Hickey vs. MWRDGC, Case 14 WC035416, in the sum of $26,809.69, Account 901-30000-601090

Dear Sir:
Thomas Hickey is an Operating Engineer I at the Egan Water Reclamation Plant. On September 9, 2012, he sustained an injury to his left knee. He was initially seen at the industrial clinic on September 11, 2012. The employee underwent a procedure on November 27, 2012. On February 5, 2013 he was able to return to work.
Mr. Hickey was paid a total of $23,811.98, which represents 20.8 weeks of lost time benefits.
Mr. Hickey filed an Application of Adjustment of Claim with the IWCC through his counsel. Subject to the approval of the IWCC, this case can now be settled for $26,809.69, representing 17.5% loss of a left leg. This settlement will close out any future medical benefits, associated with this injury.
The Director of Human Resources believes this settlement is in the best interest of the District and requests payment of that sum be approved and she be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
