Dear Sir:
On April 9, 2015, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 15-715-11, Furnish, Deliver, Install and Modify Handrailing at the Kirie Water Reclamation Plant.
In response to a public advertisement on May 27, 2015, a bid opening was held on July 7, 2015. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
CHICAGOLAND CONSTRUCTION, INC. $43,500.00
Six hundred sixty-one (661) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and fourteen (14) companies requested specifications.
A review of the sole bid, submitted by Chicagoland Construction, Inc., revealed that the bidder submitted a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid, which equals $2,175.00. The bid deposit required for this contract is $2,500.00, as stated on page I-2 in the contract documents.
Therefore, the bid is rejected for failing to comply with the contract documents and in the public’s best interest. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has notified Chicagoland Construction, Inc., of this action.
The contract will be re-advertised as soon as possible.
