Dear Sir:
On January 8, 2015, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 15-655-11, Manhole and Infrastructure Repairs.
In response to a public advertisement of August 19, 2015, a bid opening was held on September 15, 2015. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
PAN OCEANIC ENGINEERING COMPANY INC. $1,062,450.00
Six hundred ninety (690) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and thirty-two (32) companies requested specifications.
The sole bid, submitted by Pan Oceanic Engineering Company Inc., is approximately 70 percent above the estimate and is considered too high for an award. Therefore, the bid is rejected in the best interest of the public. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has informed Pan Oceanic Engineering Company Inc., of this action.
The Maintenance and Operations Department will re-advertise the contract.
