Title

Report on rejection of bids for Contract 15-036-11 Furnish and Deliver Salt and Calcium Chloride to Various Locations for a One-Year Period, estimated cost $28,000.00

Body

Dear Sir:

On August 6, 2015, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids Contract 15-036-11, Furnish and Deliver Salt and Calcium Chloride to Various Locations for a One-Year Period.

In response to a public advertisement of September 2, 2015, a bid opening was held on September 15, 2015. The bid tabulation for this contract is:

MARCO SUPPLY COMPANY                     $40,479.75

ATLAS & ASSOCIATES                     $49,400.00

Eighty-seven (87) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and nineteen (19) companies requested specifications.

The bids received ranged from 44.6% to 76% over the District’s estimate and are considered too high for an award.  Therefore all bids are rejected in the public’s best interest.  The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has notified Marco Supply Company and Atlas Associates, Inc., of this action.

This contract will be re-advertised as soon as possible.

Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management, DAL:SEB:CD:tc

Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman Committee on Procurement
