RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the Cook County Assessor’s Office
Body
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (the “District”), pursuant to the District Act, 70 ILCS 2605/1 et seq. (the “Act”), is granted all powers necessary to carry out its legislative purposes as to the construction, operation, regulation and maintenance of District properties; and
WHEREAS, the District is constantly evaluating and accessing its property information/attributes; and
WHEREAS, the Cook County Assessor’s Office has a geographic information system (“GIS”) database that it is willing to make available to the District at no cost; and
WHEREAS, GIS data sharing with the Cook County Assessor’s Office will allow the District to access GIS data from the Assessor that will facilitate the District’s decision making process with respect to managing and maintaining its properties; and
WHEREAS, cooperation between and among governmental agencies and entities through intergovernmental agreements is authorized and encouraged by Article VII, Section 10 of the Illinois Constitution of 1970 and by the “Intergovernmental Cooperation Act” (5 ILCS 220/1 et seq.); and
WHEREAS, the District and the Cook County Assessor have negotiated an Intergovernmental Agreement in substantially the form attached to this Resolution as Exhibit “A”.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, hereby resolves that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, the Executive Director and the Clerk be authorized to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and the Cook County Assessor’s Office in substantially the form of the agreement attached to this Resolution upon approval by the General Counsel as to form and legality, and that the General Counsel be authorized to execute any related documents necessary to effectuate the transaction;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Records of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
