Dear Sir:
In connection with the Des Plaines Inflow Tunnel contract, it was necessary to acquire a subterranean easement from CSX Transportation, Inc. for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a 20 foot diameter tunnel which will convey storm flows from the Des Plaines leg of TARP to the McCook Reservoir.
The consideration for the acquisition of the subterranean easement from CSX Transportation, Inc. is a fee of $16,000.00. This fee is consistent with appraisals for comparable properties in the immediate vicinity of the Des Plaines Inflow Tunnel Project and with similar subterranean easements executed by the District.
It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it accept and approve the subterranean easement grant from CSX Transportation, Inc. to the District in connection with the captioned project and that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said subterranean easement grant from CSX Transportation, Inc. on behalf of the District after it is approved by the Director of Engineering as to technical matters and by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
