Authority to issue a four (4) month permit to the Wilmette Harbor Association on 0.535 acres of District real estate located at 20 Harbor Drive in Wilmette, Illinois and known as North Shore Channel Parcel 1.14.  Consideration shall be $27,700.00

Dear Sir:

 

The Sheridan Shore Yacht Club (“Sheridan Shore”) leases 0.535 acres of District real estate located at 20 Harbor Drive in Wilmette, Illinois and known as North Shore Channel Parcel 1.14 to operate a clubhouse, yacht club and related purposes. The lease commenced in 1986 and expires March 6, 2016.  Under its current lease, Sheridan Shore subleases a portion of its leasehold to the Wilmette Harbor Association (“WHA”) under a sublease that commenced in 1989, and also expires March 6, 2016.  WHA subleases a portion of Sheridan Shore’s building for office space, to provide assistance to the U.S. Coast Guard and other harbor operations and has its utilities, crane and other related infrastructure located on the Sheridan Shore leasehold.  WHA’s sublease area is used in conjunction with its operations on the adjacent Wilmette Harbor for the mooring of boats and harbor dredging operations under a lease that commenced in 2013 and expires in 2052.

 

As the Sheridan Shore lease expires March 6, 2016, and the WHA’s corresponding sublease, the WHA has requested a four (4) month permit to continue to use a portion of the site. The WHA has requested to lease the Sheridan Shore site and has requested to stay on site during the interim.

 

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners to authorize the issuance of a four (4) month permit to the Wilmette Harbor Association on 0.535 acres of District real estate located at 20 Harbor Drive in Wilmette, Illinois and known as North Shore Channel Parcel 1.14. Consideration shall be $27,700.00.

 

It is further requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute said permit agreement once approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
