RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the Centennial Anniversary of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Body
WHEREAS, celebrating its 100th year, the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers recognizes the exceptional contributions and international recognition of its members to civil engineering; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers promotes the advancement of the civil engineering profession in the State of Illinois and in Cook County and holds its 3,000 members to the highest ethical standards; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers advocates on the behalf of the public for the improvement of infrastructure systems, serves as a steward of the environment and encourages sustainable development; and
WHEREAS, the innovations of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago were made possible by the ingenuity and contributions of the engineering profession and the high standards of performance observed by its members; and
WHEREAS, as James Kip Finch said, “The engineer has been, and is a maker of history”; and
WHEREAS, for 100 years, the members of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers have helped shape the history of our state; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby recognize the Centennial Anniversary of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Thera Baldauf, President of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
