Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 17-689-11, Test and Repair Underground Storage Tanks at Various Locations, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to test and repair the District’s underground storage tanks, as required by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall, for a three-year period.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $121,100.00. The estimated 2017, 2018 and 2019 expenditures are $32,170.00, $44,485.00 and $44,445.00, respectively.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $6,000.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) was not included in this contract because the classification of work does not fall within the provisions of the MPLA.

 

The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Revised Appendix D will be included in this contract. The type of work to be performed under the contract is within the “Mechanical” category for establishing Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE), and Small Business Enterprises (SBE) utilization goals. The associated goals for this contract, are 20% Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and/or Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE), and 10% Small Business Enterprises (SBE).

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                               March 22, 2017

Bid Opening                     April 18, 2017

Award                                         May 4, 2017

Completion                       December 31, 2019

 

Funds for 2017 are available in Accounts 101-67000/68000/69000-612240/612490/623070/623270. Funds for subsequent years, 2018 and 2019, are contingent upon the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 17-689-11.
