RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the 24th Annual African American Contractors Association Membership Awards
Body
WHEREAS, the 24th Annual African American Contractors Association Membership Awards will be held on March 15, 2017 at the South Shore Cultural Center; and
WHEREAS, the African American Contractors Association was incorporated on November 14, 1989 to advocate for small and disadvantaged African American businesses; and
WHEREAS, the African American Contractors Association works to create fair business opportunities for African American-owned contracting companies and provide members with business development training and technical assistance; and
WHEREAS, each year, members and organizational partners come together to celebrate accomplishments and inroads made by the African American Contractors Association at the Annual Membership Awards; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has been a pioneer in recognizing economic contributions of minority business men and women; and
WHEREAS, this recognition is evidenced by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s adoption and continuing advocacy of a policy which supports the legitimate aspirations of minority communities and businesses within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the development of minority business enterprises is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, the State of Illinois and the United States of America; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby recognize the 24th Annual African American Contractors Association Membership Awards and urge our fellow citizens to take note of, and participate in, the special activities arranged in observance of this event; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the African American Contractors Association.
