Dear Sir:
Contract documents and specifications have been prepared to provide maintenance, repairs, and parts for boats, outboard motors, and trailers. The contract begins January 1, 2018, and ends on December 31, 2019.
The purpose of this contract is to maintain boats, motors, and trailers used by the Environmental Monitoring and Research Division of the Monitoring and Research Department to navigate all areas of the Chicago Area Waterway System to support various research projects and perform monitoring for the District’s compliance with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit requirements.
The estimated cost for this contract is $14,000.00. The estimated 2018 and 2019 expenditures are $7,000.00 and $7,000.00, respectively.
A bid deposit is not required for this contract.
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will not be included in this contract because the classification of work does not fall within the provisions of the MPLA.
The Affirmative Action Ordinance, Revised Appendix D is not included in this contract because the estimate is less than the minimum threshold established by Section 4 of the Affirmative Action Ordinance.

Bid Opening October 31, 2017
Award November 16, 2017
Completion December 31, 2019
Funds are being requested in 2018 and 2019, in Account 101-16000-612790, and are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 18-103-11.
