TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF OCTOBER 19, 2017

COMMITTEE ON ENGINEERING

Mr. David St. Pierre, Executive Director

Title

Authority to approve and execute an easement grant from the Chicago Housing Authority for the Tunnel and Reservoir Plan Tunnel and Shafts (Ogden Avenue to Addison, Contract 75-123-2H),   consideration shall be a nominal fee of ten dollars ($10.00)

Body

Dear Sir:

In connection with the Ogden Avenue to Addison Tunnel and Reservoir Plan contract and additional work by the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) in relation to Lathrop Homes at Diversey Avenue and the North Branch Chicago River, it was necessary to acquire a new easement from the CHA for the construction, operation, and maintenance of an electrical conduit supplying power to our drop shaft.  The CHA is doing a major redevelopment of Lathrop Homes which requires the relocation of a Commonwealth Edison power pole.  The electrical conduit running from the pole to our drop shaft also needed to be relocated, calling for a new easement.  The CHA will be performing and paying for the work with MWRD approval and oversight.

The consideration for the acquisition of the easement from the CHA is a nominal fee of ten dollars ($10.00).

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it accept and approve the easement grant from the CHA to the District in connection with the captioned project and that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said easement grant from the CHA on behalf of the District after it is approved by the Director of Engineering as to technical matters and by the Attorney as to form and legality.

Requested, Marcella V. Landis, Acting Director of Engineering, WSS:KMF

Recommended, David St. Pierre, Executive Director

Respectfully Submitted, Frank Avila, Chairman Committee on Engineering
