Title

Authority to grant a 10-year, approximately 90' x 1,964' non-exclusive easement to Waste Management of Illinois, Inc. to continue to use, maintain, operate and repair a roadway along Jeffrey Avenue (extended) between 134^th Street and 137^th Street in Chicago, Illinois.  Consideration shall be an initial annual fee of $15,000.00

Dear Sir:

Since April 5, 1979, Waste Management of Illinois, Inc. (“Waste”) has been granted a series of easements for use of an approximately 90' x 1,964' roadway along Jeffrey Avenue (extended) between 134^th and 137^th Streets in Chicago, Illinois, to access its landfills to the south and west of the District's property.  The easement expires December 31, 2017.

Waste has requested a new 10-year easement for continued use and maintenance of the roadway.  An initial annual easement fee of $15,000.00 is recommended, which represents 10% of the current appraised fair market value.

The District's technical departments have reviewed Waste’s request for an easement and have no objections thereto.

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it grant a 10-year, approximately 90' x 1,964' non-exclusive easement to Waste Management of Illinois, Inc. to continue to use, maintain, operate and repair a roadway along Jeffrey Avenue (extended) between 134^th Street and 137^th Street in Chicago, Illinois.  Consideration shall be an initial annual fee of $15,000.00.

It is also requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and direct the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute said easement agreement on behalf of the District after it is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
