TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF OCTOBER 19, 2017

COMMITTEE ON PROCUREMENT

Mr. David St. Pierre, Executive Director

Title

Report on rejection of bids for Contract 17-704-21, Furnish and Deliver an Airlift Blower to the Egan Water Reclamation Plant, estimated cost $100,000.00

Body

Dear Sir:

On May 4, 2017, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 17-704-21, Furnish and Deliver an Airlift Blower to the Egan Water Reclamation Plant.

In response to a public advertisement of July 26, 2017, a bid opening was held on August 15, 2017.  The bid tabulation for this contract is:

GASVODA & ASSOCIATES, INC.                        $145,850.00

One thousand one hundred ninety (1,190) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and eight (8) companies requested specifications.

A review of the sole bid, submitted by Gasvoda & Associates, Inc., revealed that their bid of $145,850.00 is approximately 45.9 percent over the contract estimate of $100,000.00.  Therefore, the bid is considered too high for award and rejected in the public’s best interest.  The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has informed Gasvoda & Associates, Inc., of this action.

The Maintenance and Operations Department will revise the contract and re-advertise as soon as practical.

Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management, DAL:SEB:cm

Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman, Committee on Procurement
