Dear Sir:

The Law Department has received a request for a 10-year lease of approximately 13.70 acres of District real estate located between Central and Laramie Avenues, south of the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant and north of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in Stickney, Cook County, Illinois, Main Channel Parcel 39.02.  The site is presently vacant.

The site was previously leased to MGM Acquisition for container and trailer storage.  The Engineer of Site Remediation has reported that the site does not present any environmental issues.

The new applicant proposes to use the site for truck and trailer storage.

The site contains a drop shaft near its center that occasionally emits a water geyser.  The technical departments have no objections to the property being made available for a 10-year lease provided the shaft is fenced to prevent access to the immediate area, and District facilities are protected and 24-hour access maintained.

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize commencement of statutory procedures for a 10-year lease of approximately 13.70 acres of District real estate located at 5200 West 40^th Street, between Central and Laramie Avenues, south of the Stickney Water Reclamation Plan and north of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, in Stickney, Cook County, Illinois, Main Channel Parcel 39.02, upon the terms and conditions set forth above.
