Dear Sir:

 

On September 4, 2008, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 08-658-11, Furnish, Deliver, and Install Signs at the TARP Drop Shafts.

 

In response to a public advertisement of November 19, 2008, a bid opening was held on December 9, 2008.  The bid tabulation for this contract is:

 

WESTERN REMAC, INC.                     *$47,915.02

ART DOSE                     *$66,735.48

JLJ CONTRACTING, INC.                     $77,825.00

GFS FENCE, GUARDRAIL AND SIGNATE, INC.                     $90,099.02

LAKES & RIVERS CONTRACTING, INC.                     $90,425.00

Four hundred fifty-nine (459) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and twenty-seven (27) companies requested specifications.

 

Western Remac, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, is proposing to perform the contract in accordance with the specifications.

 

The estimated cost for the contract was $83,000.00, placing the bid of $47,915.02, approximately 42.3 percent below the cost estimate.

 

Western Remac, Inc., has executed the Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) certificate as required.  The construction trades anticipated to be utilized on this contract are Iron Workers.  The list of construction trades is not intended to confer any rights or jurisdiction upon any union or unions.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to award Contract 08-658-11, to Western Remac, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $47,915.02, subject to the contractor furnishing a performance bond in form satisfactory to the Law Department and approved by the Director of Procurement and Materials Management.

 

Funds are available in Accounts 101-67000, 68000, 69000-612600.
