MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 2, 2009

MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners extending sympathy and condolences to the family of Earl N. Collymore

Body

 

WHEREAS, Earl N. Collymore, passed from this life on January 1, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Collymore, a native of Chicago, Illinois, graduated from Doolittle Elementary School and Tilden High School, attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and graduated from Roosevelt University with a degree in mathematics; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Collymore began his professional career at Nye Systems data processing company and then Lanier Products before joining Commonwealth Edison in 1970 as an assistant engineer and rising through the ranks to attain the title of Assistant Marketing Manager, the position from which he retired in 1994; and 

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Collymore was a longtime member of the Phalanx Fraternity of YMCA and a sponsor of Kiwanis International at Lane Technical High School as well as a tireless advocate of the Community and Economic Development Association of Illinois (CEDA), which provides social services with the help of governmental, charitable, religious, educational, health and business groups; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition to his career and charitable work, Mr. Collymore traveled the world with his family and friends, having logged adventures in such diverse areas of the world as China, Costa Rica, the Panama Canal, Canada and Alaska; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Collymore is fondly remembered as an effective communicator and conscientious community leader whose outgoing personality and giving nature brought joy into the hearts of everyone he met; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Collymore was a devoted husband to his wife, Aretas, a loving father to his daughters, Karyn and Kerri, and a special grandfather of one granddaughter; and

 

WHEREAS, countless people, mourn the passing of this wonderful gentleman who lived a full life, always giving freely of his energy to family, friends and chosen social and civic organizations; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, extend our sympathy and condolences to the family of Earl N. Collymore; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the family of Earl N. Collymore.
