COMMITTEE ON REAL ESTATE

Mr. John P. Murray, Acting Executive Director

Title

Authority to issue a 5-year permit to the Illinois State Water Survey to install a rain gauge on an approximate 3’ x 3’ area of land located at the O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant in Skokie, Illinois for purposes of collecting precipitation data.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00

Body

Dear Sir:

The Illinois State Water Survey (“ISWS”), a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois, has requested a 5-year permit to install a rain gauge on an approximate 3’ x 3’ area of land located at the O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant in Skokie, Illinois for purposes of collecting precipitation data.  The rain gauge will be part of a 25-gauge precipitation network located in Cook County that has been operating since 1989.

The District’s technical departments have reviewed ISWS’s request and have no objections thereto.  A nominal fee of $10.00 is recommended as is customary for public agencies using District land for a public purpose.

It is requested that the Acting Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize the issuance of a 5-year permit to the Illinois State Water Survey to install a rain gauge on an approximate 3’ x 3’ area of land at the O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant in Skokie, Illinois for purposes of collecting precipitation data.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00.

It is also requested that the Acting Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute said permit agreement on behalf of the District after it is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.

Requested, Susan T. Morakalis, General Counsel, STM:CMM:MLD:vp

Recommended, John P. Murray, Acting Executive Director

Respectfully Submitted, David J. Walsh, Chairman Committee on Real Estate Development
