Title

Authority to amend lease agreement dated June 1, 1996, between the District and the Village of Worth on 214.10± acres of District real estate located at 115th Street and Oketo Avenue in Worth, Illinois; Cal-Sag Channel Parcels 8.06 and 9.03 to allow “Cruise Nights” in the Water’s Edge Golf Course parking lot.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00

Dear Sir:

 

The Village of Worth (“Worth”) leases 214.10± acres of District real estate located at 115th Street and Oketo Avenue in Worth, Illinois; Cal-Sag Channel Parcels 8.06 and 9.03 under a 62-year public recreational lease that commenced June 1, 1996, and expires May 31, 2058.  The lease is for the purpose of operating and maintaining an 18-hole golf course known as the Water’s Edge Golf Course (“Golf Course”), a clubhouse, driving range, ball fields, boat launch, and other public recreational facilities.  The lease also authorizes Worth to hold its annual “Worth Days” community festival and the sale and consumption of alcohol in the clubhouse and on the Golf Course and during the Worth Days festival.  Worth’s annual rent is $5,000.00 plus 25% of the profits derived from its use of this leasehold.

 

Worth now requests to amend its lease to allow an additional use of conducting “Cruise Nights” in the Golf Course parking lot.  On “Cruise Nights,” participants will display their cars for members of the general public to observe.  “Cruise Nights” are generally expected to be held for the duration of the lease on Monday evenings from May through October of each year.  Worth expects approximately 20-30 cars per evening.  No fee would be charged to participants of the event, nor to members of the general public attending.

 

The District's technical departments have reviewed Worth’s request and have no objections thereto.

 

It is requested that the Acting Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize an amendment to the lease agreement dated June 1, 1996, between the District and the Village of Worth on 214.10± acres of District real estate located at 115th Street and Oketo Avenue in Worth, Illinois; Cal-Sag Channel Parcels 8.06 and 9.03 to allow “Cruise Nights” in the Water’s Edge Golf Course parking lot.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00.

 

It is also requested that the Acting Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and direct the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute the lease amendment after it has been approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
