Consent to an assignment of lease from the Village of Lemont to the Village of Lemont and Lemont Park District as co-tenants with respect to the Village’s 0.97 acre leasehold located at the southwest corner of the District's Lemont Water Reclamation Plant property; Main Channel Parcel 23.11.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00

Dear Sir:

 

The Village of Lemont (“Village”) leases 0.97 acres of District real estate located at the southwest corner of the District’s Lemont Water Reclamation Plant property and known as Main Channel Parcel 23.11 under a public recreational lease that commenced June 1, 2017, and expires May 31, 2056.  The current rent is a nominal fee of $10.00.  The lease is for the purpose of using the existing building and facilities located thereon as a visitor center promoting the I & M Canal Trails and the Heritage Quarry Recreational Area and for certain Village community meetings and events.  It also allows use of the leasehold’s parking area in connection with such meetings and events.

 

The Village is requesting the District’s consent to assign the lease from the Village to the Village and Lemont Park District (“Park District”) as co-tenants.  The Village and Park District intend to continue using the site for the same public purposes provided in the lease.

 

It is requested that the Acting Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it consent to an assignment of lease from the Village of Lemont to the Village of Lemont and Lemont Park District as co-tenants with respect to the Village’s 0.97 acre leasehold located at the southwest corner of the District's Lemont Water Reclamation Plant property; Main Channel Parcel 23.11.  Consideration shall be a nominal fee of $10.00.

 

It is also requested that the Acting Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and direct the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk to execute the Consent to Assignment of Lease Agreement after it is approved by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
