MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 2019

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners honoring the memory of Richard Allen Dickerson

 

Body

WHEREAS, Richard Allen Dickerson was born on February 27, 1954 to Sylvester and Ann Dickerson; and

 

WHEREAS, he received his education at the William H. Brown Elementary School and Crane High School; and 

 

WHEREAS, he went on to study mortuary science at Malcolm X College; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard enlisted in the army in 1971 and served in Germany, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1973; and

 

WHEREAS, he enjoyed a career working at several funeral homes and later working for Sky Chef Catering Service at the Chicago-O’Hare Airport; and

 

WHEREAS, at a young age, he joined Greater Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. S.H. Graham and began his biblical training joining the Shepard Boys, BTU, Bible Study and Sunday School; and

 

WHEREAS, on October 20, 2000, he wed his love, Ms. Freida Turner and together they blended their families to include Monique, La Tasha, Lamont and David; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, his grandparents Lem and Cora James, his sisters La Conia Dickerson and Shirley Jones, his brother Maurice Dickerson, his uncles RJ and Jessie James, and his aunts Emma James Robinson and Irene James; and

 

WHEREAS, Richard aka “Cigar” leaves behind his beloved wife Freida; his children Monique (Kevin), La Tasha, Lamont and David; his brothers Frank Eugene (Addie) and Daryl (Carol); his sisters Annette (Mark) and Marlene (John); sisters-in-law Linda Turner and Karen Dickerson; brothers-in-law Milton Jones and Carl Turner; uncle Robert James, aunts Opal Hunter and Wilma James; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish their memories; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Richard Allen Dickerson on the occasion of his untimely passing on December 26, 2018; and 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
