MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners extending sympathy and condolences to the family of the Honorable Gay-Lloyd Lott
Body
WHEREAS, the Honorable Judge Gay-Lloyd Lott was called to eternal rest too soon on January 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Judge Lott is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; his sister Cornelia (Bunny); his son, Gay-Lloyd, Jr. (Gerald); and his five beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Griffin, Aubrey, Maddox and Sophia; and
 
WHEREAS, born in Chicago, Judge Lott graduated from Hyde Park High School, earned his undergraduate degree from Roosevelt University and his Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School; and
WHEREAS, admitted to the Bar in 1965, throughout his career, Judge Lott unselfishly gave his time to mentor many other attorneys; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1983 Judge Lott served on the Executive Committee of the Lawyers' Committee for Harold Washington for Mayor; and
 
WHEREAS, Judge Lott served as President of the National Bar Association and was inducted into the Cook County Bar Association Hall of Fame in 2007; and
 
WHEREAS, a member of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, Judge Lott served on the Board of Directors of Genesis House, a social service agency for women; and
 
WHEREAS, Judge Lott was Chairperson of the Illinois Judicial Council and Civil Service Board Chairman at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, Judge Lott was dedicated to justice and honesty and worked to make life better for his fellow citizens in any way he could, which complimented his stellar legal reputation; and
 
WHEREAS, Judge Lott's family and many friends will miss his quick wit, his thoughtfulness, his wonderful sense of humor, hearty laugh and sly smile; and
  
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, extend our sympathy and condolences to the family of the Honorable Judge Gay-Lloyd Lott; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the family of the Honorable Judge Gay-Lloyd Lott.
