Mr. David St. Pierre, Executive Director

Title
Authority to advertise Contract 13-619-11 Rebabbitting Pump Motor Bearings at the O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant, estimated cost $27,000.00, Account 101-67000-612600, Requisition 1355883
Body

Dear Sir:

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for rebabbitting pump motor bearings at the O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

The purpose of this contract is to rebabbitt the bearing shells used in the North Branch Pumping Station's dry weather, raw sewage pump motor sleeve bearings. An inspection reveals that the bearing material is beginning to delaminate from the backing shells and rebabbitting is required to restore full operating efficiency and avoid a possible boundary layer bearing failure.

The estimated cost for this contract is $27,000.00.

The bid deposit for this contract is $1,300.00.

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement is not included in this contract because the work will be performed offsite at the Contractor's facility.

The Affirmative Action Interim Ordinance, Appendix D, will not be included in this contract because of the specialized nature of the services required and because the estimate is less than the minimum threshold established by Section 4 of the Affirmative Action Ordinance.

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:
Advertise      April 3, 2013
Bid Opening      April 23, 2013
Award      May 16, 2013
Completion       December 31, 2013

Funds are available in Account 101-67000-612600.

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 13-619-11.

Requested, Manju Prakash Sharma, Director of Maintenance and Operations, SES:SO'C:MAG:LSC
Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management
Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman Committee on Procurement
Disposition of this agenda item will be documented in the official Regular Board Meeting Minutes of the Board of Commissioners for February 21, 2013
