RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners recognizing the Second Annual Chicago Veggie Pride Parade
Body
WHEREAS, the Second Annual Chicago Veggie Pride Parade will take place June 1, 2013 in Grant Park; and
WHEREAS, the Veggie Pride Parade has been held annually in Paris, France since 2001, and has since been emulated in other cities around the world; and
WHEREAS, the theme of the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade 2013 is "Celebrating Vegetarian & Vegan Lifestyles!"; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade is a wonderful all-encompassing event to raise awareness in the general public about the benefits of a plant-based diet; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade is to support local vegetarians and vegans and provide a platform for them to promote a lifestyle choice that can be based on ethical, environmental, health or spiritual reasons; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade also calls attention to the global importance of our food choices and the impact those choices make; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, hereby recognize the second annual Chicago Veggie Pride Parade; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Records of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to ChicagoVeg.
