Dear Sir:
Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 13-927-21, Furnish and Deliver a Remote Racking Device to the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.
The purpose of procuring the remote racking device is for operator safety. The racking device will allow remote removal or installation of energized electrical breakers outside the arc flash danger zone, thereby decreasing the risk of injury or death.
The estimated cost of this contract is $55,000.00.
The bid deposit for this contract is $2,700.00.
The contract specifications require that the equipment shall be delivered before December 31, 2013.
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) and the Affirmative Action Interim Ordinance, Appendix D, are not included in this contract because it is a furnish and deliver contract for equipment.
The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Bid Opening April 23, 2013
Award May 16, 2013
Completion December 31, 2013
Funds are available in Account 201-50000-634780.
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 13-927-21.
