Dear Sir:
 
In connection with Contract 13-248-5F, MEDT-1, Streambank Stabilization on Melvina Ditch, we request approval to negotiate and enter into intergovernmental agreements outlining various responsibilities associated with the proposed improvements, such as operation and maintenance, with the Village of Chicago Ridge and the Village of Oak Lawn.
 
Contract 13-248-5F consists of stabilizing both banks of Melvina Ditch between 95th and 99th Streets in the villages of Oak Lawn and Chicago Ridge in order to protect adjacent structures from erosion, including commercial and residential buildings, as well as critical infrastructure.
 
Based on the foregoing, the Engineering Department recommends that the District be authorized to negotiate and enter into intergovernmental agreements with the Village of Chicago Ridge and the Village of Oak Lawn for certain responsibilities to be negotiated by the District, and that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, the Executive Director, and the Clerk be authorized to execute said intergovernmental agreements on behalf of the District, upon approval by the Directors of the Engineering, Maintenance & Operations, and Monitoring & Research Departments as to technical matters and by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
