Dear Sir:
On June 6, 2013, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 13-055-11 furnish and deliver pipe covering and insulation to various locations for a one (1) year period, beginning approximately October 1, 2013 and ending September 30, 2014.
In response to a public advertisement of June 26, 2013, a bid opening was held on July 23, 2013. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
ACE HOSE AND RUBBER COMPANY $43,648.90
Seven hundred ninety-nine (799) companies were notified of the contract being advertised and fourteen (14) companies requested specifications.
A review of the sole bid submitted by Ace Hose and Rubber Company revealed that their bid price of $43,648.90 is approximately fifty percent over the estimate and is considered too high for an award. Therefore, the bid was considered non-responsive and was rejected in the public's best interest. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has notified Ace Hose & Rubber Company of this action.
This contract will be re-advertised as soon as possible.
