Dear Sir:

On June 6, 2013, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids 13-609-11 Furnishing and Delivering Mechanical Repair Parts to Various Service Areas.

In response to a public advertisement of August 14, 2013, a bid opening was held on August 27, 2013.  The bid tabulation for this contract is:

APPLIED INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC.      $196,855.00

Seven hundred twelve (712) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and thirty-three (33) companies requested specifications.

A review of the bid submitted by Applied Industrial Technologies, Inc., revealed that this firm submitted an exception to the bid pertaining to liquidated damages.  As a result, the bid submitted by Applied Industrial Technologies, Inc., is considered non-responsive and rejected in the public's best interest for failing to comply with the terms and conditions of the contract documents.  The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has notified Applied Industrial Technologies, Inc., of this action.

The contract will be re-advertised as soon as possible.

Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management, DAL:SEB:klv
Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman, Committee on Procurement
