RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 1, 2010

MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners extending sympathy and condolences to the family of Ronald Dean Banks

Body

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Ronald (“Ron”) Dean Banks departed this life on March 4, 2010, in Detroit Michigan; and

 

WHEREAS, Ronald Dean Banks was the third child of Jennie and William Banks, Sr.,  and was born on May 10, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan; and

 

WHEREAS, Ron accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized as a youth and reaffirmed his faith, prior to death, while attending Greater Grace Temple; and

 

WHEREAS, Ronald Dean Banks was educated in the Detroit Public Schools System and attended Atkinson Elementary School, Hutchins Junior High School and Northern High School; and 

 

WHEREAS, Ron was blessed with a spectacular voice, nevertheless his first love was baseball; and

 

WHEREAS, Ron’s athletic progression included try outs for the Detroit Tigers and the Cincinnati Reds major league baseball teams;

 

 WHEREAS, Ronald Dean Banks’ professional singing career started at age 11 when he and Elbert Wilkins started the Perfections; and

 

WHEREAS, the Perfections later changed their name to the Sensations, and ultimately to The Dramatics, and

 

WHEREAS, Ron and The Dramatics traveled extensively throughout the world, performed at sold-out concerts and before dignitaries and were invited to the White House; and

 

WHEREAS, Ronald Dean Banks  was known for his great humanitarian spirit which was evidenced by his partnership with childhood friends to establish such programs as Shoes for Kids, Coats for Kids and Celebrity Basketball games to benefit the children of Detroit; and

 

WHEREAS, Ron’s father, William Banks, Sr., preceded him in death in 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, Ronald Dean Banks leaves to mourn and keep safe the lifelong cherished memories; his wife, Sandra; his children, Sherri, Bianca, Brandi, Bridgette, Ronald Jr., Raymond, and Tonya Nichole Denise; his sister, Donna Green, and three brothers, William Jr., Michael and Brian; two grandchildren, Fallon and Jaheel; four sisters-in-law, Barbara, Oneida, Constance and Paula; three brothers-in-law, Roger, Bernard, Jr. and Douglas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins;

 
WHEREAS, Ron had a multitude of people that were family to him, including The Dramatics and their families; and

 

WHEREAS, countless people mourn the passing of this extraordinary man.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and our staff, extend our sympathy and condolences to the family of Ronald Dean Banks; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the family of Ronald Dean Banks.
