 RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 15, 2010

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners congratulating Osoth Jamjun on his 32 years of service and retirement.  (As Revised)

Body

 

WHEREAS, Osoth (“OJ”) Jamjun, Director of Maintenance and Operations, will retire from the classified service of the District on April 30, 2010, after 32 years of service; and

 

WHEREAS, OJ received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Chulalonghorn University in Bangkok, Thailand in 1972, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, Illinois, in 1977; and

 

WHEREAS, Osoth Jamjun is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois; and  

 

WHEREAS, During his career at the District, OJ served in positions of increasing responsibility from 1978 to 2005, including Civil Engineer and Supervising Civil Engineer in the Process Facility Division of the Engineering Department; Assistant Engineer of Treatment Plant Operations II and Engineer of Treatment Plant Operations I in the Maintenance and Operations Department; Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer in the Process Facilities Division; and

 

WHEREAS, OJ was appointed as the District’s Chief of Maintenance and Operations, now known as Director of Maintenance and Operations, in 2005; and

 

 WHEREAS, Under the leadership of OJ, the Maintenance and Operations Department received numerous national awards and recognitions for its performance, including Platinum and Gold Awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies, recognizing that the District’s plants meet 100 percent of the NPDES permit requirements and maintained certified environment systems for its biosolids operations; and

 

WHEREAS, Osoth Jamjun’s initiative, expertise, dedication and leadership have contributed to many District projects, including the Digester Complex at the Stickney Plant, Digester Complex and Sludge Concentration Tank Facility at the Calumet Plant, the Pre-Digester Centrifuge Facility at the Stickney Plant and the Distribution Control System at the North Side Plant; and

 

WHEREAS, OJ has received certifications from his participation in the Intergovernmental Executive Development Program (City of Chicago) and the Leadership in Crisis: Preparation and Performance Program (John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education, Harvard University); and

 

WHEREAS, Osoth Jamjun is a member of the Illinois Water Environment Association (IWEA) and the Water Environment Federation (WEF); and

 

WHEREAS, OJ is active in Chicago’s Thai community and has received awards including a Community Service Award from the Thai-American Association of Illinois and a Gold President’s Call to Service Award from USA Freedom Corps, President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation; and

 

WHEREAS, Osoth Jamjun dedicated his professional career to the fulfillment of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s motto “Protecting Our Water Environment”; and

 

WHEREAS, Notwithstanding his dedication to the District, OJ is a dedicated family man to his wife, Wacharee and their two adult children, Arch and Archawee.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and

our staff, do hereby congratulate Osoth Jamjun upon the celebration of his thirty-

two years of service to and retirement from District employment, and express our gratitude and appreciation for his work on behalf of the community and the environment; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Osoth Jamjun.
