RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF APRIL 15, 2010

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners extending congratulations to the Green Parents Network and the Irish Heritage Center on organizing The Green Family Festival

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Green Family Festival will be held on April 17th and 18th, 2010 at the Irish American Heritage Center; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Irish American Heritage Center is located at 4626 North Knox Avenue in Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, the Green Family Festival was organized by co-chairs Mary Beth Rebedeau of the Green Parents Network and Mary Johnson Gorski of the Irish American Heritage Center; and

 

WHEREAS, the Green Parents Network is an online community of over 2,000 families who share tips, learn from each other, and enjoy a relaxed setting that helps families and homes to be healthier, happier, and more balanced; and

 

WHEREAS, the Irish American Heritage Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and strengthening Irish culture and heritage in Chicago and currently serves over 1,700 households and provides a gathering place for the larger Irish community as well as other community organizations in Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, the Green Parents Network and the Irish American Heritage Center organized the Green Family Festival in response to families seeking healthy ways to raise their children; and

 

WHEREAS, the Green Family Festival will be an Earth Day Celebration for families to share natural, healthy ways to raise children and positively impact their communities and the environment; and

 

WHEREAS, the festival will feature fun activities and practical information in a wholesome atmosphere designed for families with children of all ages; and

 

WHEREAS, at the festival there will be many workshops and panel presentations on various topics from healthy cooking demonstrations and art projects to discussions on alternative eco conscious energy sources; and

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby recognize the Green Family Festival and urge our fellow citizens to take note of, and participate in, the special activities arranged in observance of this event; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitably engrossed, be presented to the Green Parents Network and the Irish American Heritage Center.
