Dear Sir:
Contract documents and specifications have been prepared to furnish, deliver and erect a pre-engineered steel storage building at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.
The purpose of this contract is to obtain one new pre-engineered steel storage building at the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant, including foundation, floor, and doors, to store equipment. The current building is in disrepair and is too small. Much of the large equipment is stored outdoors, exposed to the elements, causing deterioration and reducing its useful life.
The estimated cost for this contract is $835,000.00.
The bid deposit for this contract is $41,800.00.
The contract specifications require that all work shall commence upon approval of the contractor’s bond and terminate December 31, 2010. Liquidated damages are $200.00 for each calendar day that the contractor is in default of the time specified for delivery and assembly of the building as specified.
The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.
Revised Appendix D will be included in this contract. The type of work to be performed under this contract is classified "Miscellaneous Building Construction" for the PCE utilization goals contained in the Revised Appendix D. The associated tailored goals are 10% Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE), 5% Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE) and 10% Small Business Enterprises (SBE).

Funds are available in Account 101-68000-612680.
In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 10-874-11.
