Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 10-984-11 Painting Services for Final Tanks at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant, at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

 

The purpose of this contract is to procure the services to replace the protective coatings for 12 final settling tanks in Battery A at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $650,000.00. The estimated 2010, 2011 and 2012 expenditures are $120,000.00, $310,000.00 and $220,000.00 respectively.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $32,500.00.

 

The contract specifications require that all work commence within 30 calendar days after approval of the contractor’s bond and be completed by December 15, 2012. Liquidated damages are $100.00 per day for failure to complete the work on any tank, as specified.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement will be included in this contract.

 

The Revised Appendix D will be included in this contract. The type of work to be performed under the contract is within the “Miscellaneous Building Construction” category for establishing PCE utilization goals. The PCE utilization goals for this contract are 20% Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), 9% Women’s Business Enterprises (WBE), and 10% Small Business Enterprises (SBE).

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     June 16, 2010

Bid Opening                     July 13, 2010

Award                     September 2, 2010

Completion                      December 15, 2012

 

Funds for the current year are available in Account 101-69000-612650. Funds for subsequent years 2011, and 2012, are contingent on the Board of Commissioner’s approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 10-984-11.
