Dear Sir:
In connection with the Final Reservoir Preparation, Thornton Composite Reservoir contract, it is necessary to acquire a license from the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) for construction of the new Thorn Creek Connection Tunnel and plugging the existing tunnel beneath the UPRR tracks.
The new Thorn Creek Connection Tunnel and plug in the existing Thorn Creek Diversion Tunnel is required to re-route Thorn Creek flood water from the Thornton Transitional Reservoir to the Thornton Composite Reservoir.
It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize and approve the license from UPRR. In addition, it is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it authorize payment of $2,000.00 to UPRR for consideration of the aforementioned license in connection with the Final Reservoir Preparation contract.
It is further requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents in connection with the subject license on behalf of the District after they are approved by the Acting Director of Engineering as to technical matters and by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
