Authority to approve and accept an easement agreement from the Village of South Holland for the Final Reservoir Preparation, Thornton Composite Reservoir, Calumet Service Area (Contract 04-203-4F, ROW File 5)

Dear Sir:

 

In connection with the Final Reservoir Preparation, the Thornton Composite Reservoir contract, it is necessary to acquire an easement agreement from the Village of South Holland (Village) for construction of the new Thorn Creek Connection Tunnel and drop shaft and associated construction staging area.

 

The new Thorn Creek Connection Tunnel is required to re-route Thorn Creek flood water from the Thornton Transitional Reservoir to the Thornton Composite Reservoir.

 

It is requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that it approve and accept the easement agreement from the Village.

 

It is further requested that the Executive Director recommend to the Board of Commissioners that the Chairman of the Committee on Finance and the Clerk be authorized and directed to execute any necessary documents in connection with the subject agreement on behalf of the District after they are approved by the Acting Director of Engineering as to technical matters and by the General Counsel as to form and legality.
