Dear Sir:
David Robertson is a Carpenter at the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant. On January 26, 2009, he felt a pop and sharp pain in his left shoulder while lifting a wooden scaffold plank. He went to Excel Occupational Health Clinic and was diagnosed with a left shoulder sprain. An MRI revealed a full thickness rotator cuff tear. Mr. Robertson underwent surgery to repair the tear on March 13, 2009. He completed a physical therapy program and returned to regular duties on September 14, 2009. He lost 153 days of work.
Subject to the approval of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, this claim can be settled for the sum of $46,247.89 which represents a 27.5% loss of use of the left arm.
The General Counsel believes this is an equitable settlement to conclude this matter and requests payment of that sum be approved and he be authorized to execute such documents as may be necessary to effect the settlement.
