Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for Contract 10-771-11, for Underground Infrastructure Cleaning and Manhole Repairs in the North Service Area.

 

The purpose of this contract is to procure services to clean one interceptor and a diversion structure and perform manhole repairs at various locations in the North Service Area collection system. The services are to be used for unblocking sewers, removal of accumulated debris, and performance of preventive maintenance needed to maintain proper sewer flow and reduce the possibility of surcharging in the sewer system.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $225,000.00.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $11,300.00.

 

The contract specifications require that the work under this contract commence within 20 days after approval of the Contractor’s Bond, and terminate on December 31, 2010. Liquidated damages of up to fifty dollars ($50.00) per day may be assessed for non-compliance with the contract terms.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement (MPLA) will be included in this contract.

 

Revised Appendix D will be included in this contract. The type of work to be performed under this contract is classified "Miscellaneous Building Construction" for the PCE utilization goals contained in the Revised Appendix D. The associated tailored goals are 18% Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBE) and/or Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBE) and 10% Small Business Enterprises (SBE).

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     May 26, 2010

Bid Opening                     June 15, 2010

Award                     August 12, 2010

Completion                     December 31, 2010

 

Funds for the current year are available in Account 101-67000-612600. 

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 10-771-11.
