Dear Sir:

 

Contract documents and specifications have been prepared for the annual maintenance of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs), complete with accessories, at various District locations for a 36-month period beginning January 1, 2011.

 

AED units can be used by trained personnel to help restart the heart of a person in cardiac arrest to keep him/her alive, while awaiting the arrival of advanced life support. This contract will provide for the inspection and maintenance of AEDs as required by state law.

 

The estimated cost for this contract is $60,000.00. The estimated 2011, 2012, and 2013 expenditures are $20,000.00 for each year.

 

The bid deposit for this contract is $3,000.00.

 

The Multi-Project Labor Agreement is not applicable to this contract because it is primarily a furnish and deliver contract.

 

Revised Appendix D is not included in this contract because it is primarily a furnish and deliver contract.

 

The tentative schedule for this contract is as follows:

Advertise                     July 28, 2010

Bid Opening                     August 24, 2010

Award                     September 16, 2010

Completion                     December 31, 2013

 

Funds are being requested in 2011, in Account 101-25000-612780, and are contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for that year. Funds for subsequent years, 2012 and 2013, are also contingent on the Board of Commissioners’ approval of the District’s budget for those years.

 

In view of the foregoing, it is recommended that the Director of Procurement and Materials Management be authorized to advertise Contract 11-435-11.
