RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF AUGUST 12, 2010

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners commemorating the induction of Bart T. Lynam into the NACWA Hall of Fame
Body
WHEREAS, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (“NACWA”), formerly the Association of Municipal Sewerage Agencies (“AMSA”) was established in 1970 by a founding group of individuals representing 22 large municipal l sewerage agencies including the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (“the District”); and
WHEREAS, NACWA initially came together to secure federal funding for municipal wastewater treatment and discuss emerging national interests in improving the quality of the nation’s waters; and
WHEREAS, NACWA is now a nationally recognized leader in the development of environmental policy and a sought after technical resource on water quality and ecosystem protection issues; and
WHEREAS, Bart T. Lynam, former General Superintendent of the District, served as a member of NACWA’s Board of Directors, as Secretary-Treasurer from 1973 through 1974 and as President from 1974 through 1977; and
WHEREAS, as President, Mr. Lynam had the foresight to propose the relocation of NACWA to the Nation’s Capitol in order to increase its presence on the national scene and secure the prominent position it enjoys today as the national leader in all facets of water quality protection; and
WHEREAS, Bart T. Lynam was an outstanding employee and unrivalled leader at the District and NACWA, one in which the District takes great pride in having employed; and
WHEREAS, NACWA has established a Hall of Fame to commemorate the accomplishments of its exemplary members and officers; and
WHEREAS, NACWA has announced the inclusion of Mr. Bart T. Lynam in the Inaugural Class of Admission to the NACWA Hall of Fame; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby congratulate Mr. Bart T. Lynam on his induction into the NACWA Hall of Fame; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that copy of the same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Mr. Bart T. Lynam.
