RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF AUGUST 12, 2010

RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners commemorating the induction of Dr. Cecil Lue-Hing into the NACWA Hall of Fame
Body
WHEREAS, the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (“NACWA”), formerly the Association of Municipal Sewerage Agencies (“AMSA”) was established in 1970 by a founding group of individuals representing 22 large municipal l sewerage agencies including the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (“the District”); and
WHEREAS, NACWA initially came together to secure federal funding for municipal wastewater treatment and discuss emerging national interests in improving the quality of the nation’s waters; and
WHEREAS, NACWA is now a nationally recognized leader in the development of environmental policy and a sought after technical resource on water quality and ecosystem protection issues; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Cecil Lue-Hing, former Director of Research and Development at the District, served as a member of NACWA’s Board of Directors and as President from 1981 through 1983; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Lue-Hing was the recipient of the Environment Award in 1988 for outstanding environmental service and received the President’s Award for major contributions toward achieving the goals and objectives of the Association in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Lue-Hing was an unparalleled employee and a preeminent leader with regards to biosolids issues for both NACWA and the District; and
WHEREAS, NACWA has established a Hall of Fame to commemorate the accomplishments of its exemplary members and officers; and
WHEREAS, NACWA has announced the inclusion of Dr. Cecil Lue-Hing in the Inaugural Class of Admission to the NACWA Hall of Fame; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, do hereby congratulate the Dr. Cecil Lue-Hing on his induction into of the NACWA Hall of Fame; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of the same, suitably engrossed, be presented to Dr. Cecil Lue-Hing.
