Mr. Richard Lanyon, Executive Director

Title

Authority to add Project 10-880-4H, TARP Control Structure Rehabilitation and South Park Control Structure Improvements, North Service Area, Stickney Service Area, and Calumet Service Area to the Engineering Department Capital Improvement Program and the Capital Improvements Bond Fund, estimated cost of the project is $9,100,000.00

Body

Dear Sir:

Authority is requested to add Project 10-880-4H, TARP Control Structure Rehabilitation and South Park Control Structure Improvements, North Service Area, Stickney Service Area, and Calumet Service Area to the Engineering Department Capital Improvement Program and the Capital Improvements Bond Fund at the request of the Maintenance and Operations Department.

The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate and/or replace various components of the control structures throughout the TARP system in order to ensure reliable operations and to modify the South Park Control Structure to allow increased flow to the Calumet Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) from the South Park interceptor.

The project consists of the rehabilitation and/or replacement of sluice gate actuators, equipment platforms, dehumidifiers, and other miscellaneous equipment, as well as the installation of new equipment including additional sump pumps and industrial type dehumidifiers at the various TARP control structures.  The project also consists of the reconfiguration of the South Park Control Structure to allow for increased flow to the Calumet WRP by means of either expanding the dimensions of existing sluice gates or by installing additional gated openings.

The estimated cost of the project is $9,100,000.00.

Requested, Kenneth A. Kits, Director of Engineering, WSS:KMF

Respectfully Submitted, Gloria Alitto Majewski, Chairman Committee on Finance
