RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners celebrating the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce’s 42nd Annual Award Gala
Body
WHEREAS, the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce ‘s 42nd Annual “Evening with Friends” Award Gala will be held on October 15, 2010 at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel; and
WHEREAS, the theme of this year’s “Evening with Friends” Award Gala is Celebrating 77 Years of Economic Empowerment and Successful Entrepreneurial Development; and
WHEREAS, the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce’s “Evening with Friends” Award Gala recognizes the services and contributions of individuals who are committed to developing and strengthening minority businesses; and
WHEREAS, the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest minority business associations in the nation and provides seminars, technical assistance and training and certification programs as well as supports business development and growth through partnerships with public and private organizations and through community outreach; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has been a pioneer in recognizing the economic contributions of minority business men and women; and
WHEREAS, this recognition is evinced by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago’s adoption and continuing advocacy of a policy which supports the legitimate aspirations of minority communities and businesses within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the development of minority business enterprises is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, the State of Illinois and the United States of America; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, hereby recognize October 15, 2010 as Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce Day and urge our fellow citizens to take note of and participate in the special activities arranged in observance of this event; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same suitably engrossed, be presented to the Cosmopolitan Chamber of Commerce.
