TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR BOARD MEETING OF NOVEMBER 4, 2010

COMMITTEE ON PROCUREMENT

Mr. Richard Lanyon, Executive Director

Title

Authorization for payment to Illinois Association of Wastewater Agencies (IAWA) for 2011 membership dues in an amount not to exceed $14,120.00, Account 101-15000-612280

Body

Dear Sir:

Authorization is requested to make payment to the Illinois Association of Wastewater Agencies (IAWA) for the District’s 2011 membership dues in an amount not to exceed $14,120.00. The term of the District’s membership is November 1, 2010 to October 31, 2011.

The IAWA has served the wastewater agencies of Illinois for over 80 years. IAWA provides such services as lobbying for wastewater agency concerns in the State of Illinois and technical support for standards before the Illinois Pollution Control Board (IPCB). IAWA also provides a forum for technical education and assistance in the form of its frequent technical committee meetings throughout the year. The District is very active in IAWA Technical Committees.

Inasmuch as IAWA membership is not available through any other source, nothing would be gained by advertising for bids (Section 11.4 of the Purchasing Act).

It is hereby recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize payment, by direct voucher to Illinois Association of Wastewater Agencies, in an amount not to exceed $14,120.00. Funds are available in Account 101-15000-612280.

Requested, Patricia Young, Associate Pubic Affairs Specialist, PY:EMc:BKS:SL:TN

Recommended, Darlene A. LoCascio, Director of Procurement and Materials Management

Respectfully Submitted, Barbara J. McGowan, Chairman Committee on Procurement
