Dear Sir:
On May 6, 2010, the Board of Commissioners authorized the Director of Procurement and Materials Management to advertise for bids, Contract 10-979-11 Roof Inspection Services in the Stickney Service Area.
In response to a public advertisement of June 9, 2010, a bid opening was held June 29, 2010. No bids were received for this contract.
In response to a public re-advertisement of August 18, 2010, a bid opening was held on September 14, 2010. The bid tabulation for this contract is:
STR BUILDING RESOURCES LLC $44,000.00
Four hundred fifty-one (451) companies were notified of this contract being advertised and eleven (11) companies requested specifications.
A review of the sole bid, submitted by STR Building Resources LLC, revealed that the bid is 193 percent above the estimate and is considered too high to award. Therefore, their bid is being rejected in the public’s best interest. The Director of Procurement and Materials Management has notified STR Building Resources LLC, of this action.
The Maintenance and Operations Department does not intend to re-advertise this contract.
