MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR BOARD MEETING OF NOVEMBER 4, 2010

MEMORIAL RESOLUTION sponsored by the Board of Commissioners extending sympathy and condolences to the family of Samuel Vargas

Body

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas was born on July 1, 1973 at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas passed from this life on October 2, 2010 while on duty as a Cicero Police Officer; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas is survived by his loving wife Priscilla Naomi Vargas, his three daughters, Samantha, Kristina, and Angelica, his parents Jose Marciano and Lidia Vargas, his siblings and many loving family and friends; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas was raised with ten siblings, Veronica, Lidia, Silvia, Patricia, Cecilia, Jose, Victor, Richard, Lisa and Elsa in the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas attended Chicago Metro High School and Benito Juarez High School; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas received a Bachelors in Arts from National-Louis University; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas, a natural leader with a strong work ethic, was a devoted public servant who worked as a Police Officer for the Cicero Police Department since 1999; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas also worked for the Cook County Sheriff Department as a Corrections officer and for the Cook County Forest Preserve Police District; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas was active in various groups and organizations such as Nosotros Unidos, Cicero Police Benevolent Association and the Illinois Police Association; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas was a man of great faith who was an active member of the Fifty Eighth Avenue Baptist Church for over six years where he was an Assistant Deacon and Usher; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas enjoyed fishing, traveling, cook outs, family outings and attending Tejano festivals across the country; and

 

WHEREAS, Samuel Vargas’s family and friends will miss his outgoing, positive outlook on life, his humor, quick wit, creativity, spontaneity, and infectious energy; and

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, on behalf of ourselves and staff, extend our sympathy and condolences to the family of Samuel Vargas; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread upon the permanent Record of Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago and that a copy of same, suitable engrossed, be presented to the family of Samuel Vargas.
